On the occasion of a long weekend, we decided to spend a few days on Lake Garda, discovering the most characteristic towns overlooking the lake, and the beautiful flowers at the Sigurtà Park.

For the overnight stay, our choice fell on the Bella Italia Camping in Peschiera del Garda, a facility that offers various services and various types of accommodation.

In this article, we tell you about our experience at Camping Bella Italia, one of the largest campsites on Lake Garda.

The beach at Bella Italia Camping

Right in the centre of the campsite is the main road (which is overlooked by a restaurant, ice-cream parlour and fish & chips) leading to Lake Garda.

To enter and exit the gate to the beach and the lakeside promenade, you must show the guard the bracelet given to you at check-in.

The beach is free and characterised by pebbles. The seabed slopes gently so it is also suitable for children.

Walking along the flat Clelia Guazzi Leoncini lakeside promenade, in 500 metres you can reach Lido Cappuccini where there is an equipped beach, a bar and an elastic mat for children (€4.00 for 10 minutes).

Continuing along the Mazzini lakeside prom enade for just under a kilometre, you will arrive in Peschiera del Garda.

If you take the Leoncini promenade in the opposite direction, you will reach the small harbour, with a small children’s playground, and the Bergamini beach in less than a kilometre.

A few minutes’ walk from the lakefront is the excellent Trattoria al Combattente where you can sample lake fish in all sauces (baked, marinated, smoked..).

The starter is so plentiful that it could serve as a single dish! Really good.

Our experience

animation
Animation at Camping Bella Italia

Our experience at Camping Bella Italia took place in the low season (April) but at the same time as Easter so the turnout was probably comparable to the summer period.

We decided to stay in a flat (80.00€ per night for 4 people).

Strong points: parking within walking distance and 2 swimming pools (for adults) located right in front of the building.

Although it was early April, the baby club and animation services were already active.

The facility is well organised: each type of accommodation has its own car park nearby and a nice playground for children.

Unfortunate points: our flat had some problems (broken refrigerator, the air conditioner dripped over the front door).

We arrived that the house was quite cold but, once we turned on the heating, the temperature rose quickly.

The real sore point was the check-in queue: we arrived at 3pm and managed to get the room keys at 5pm!

At 9pm, there was still an exaggerated queue.

Impossible, therefore, to talk to the receptionists about the flat’s problems even though, fortunately, we were able to reach them by phone.

We appreciated the fact that we were able to use all the services of the campsite before we checked in.

In the queue time, in fact, the girls were able to explore the campsite and go to the playground with their dad!

The advice, however, is not to stray too far because, when the keys are handed over, all the family members are given a bracelet which acts as a pass to enter and leave the campsite.

What to do in the surrounding area

Less than a kilometre from the campsite, along the flat lakeside promenade, you can reach the picturesque Peschiera del Garda.

In ten minutes by car, on the other hand, you can reach Sirmione, with its Scaligero Castle and the wonderful Grotte di Catullo.

For those who want to have fun in a theme park, Gardaland is 7 kilometres away.

For nature lovers, the Parco Giardino Sigurtà is 14 kilometres away and, finally, Verona is a half-hour drive (30 km) away.

Conclusion

camping bella italia

Despite a few minor mishaps, at Camping Bella Italia we found relaxation, fun thanks to the playground and entertainment, helpfulness of the staff, and proximity to the most interesting places.

We would definitely return in the summer period to use the swimming pools , which were not yet open to full capacity.
