Vens is a hamlet of the municipality of Saint Nicolas, positioned 25 km from Aosta.
It is a charming village located at an altitude of 1734 meters.
You can spend half a day getting lost among its narrow streets and old rural dwellings and tasting typical dishes at the Ristoro Vagneur restaurant, with breathtaking views of the mountains. If you want to stop for the night, Ristoro Vagneur is also a hotel.
Or you can organize a hike to Lake Joux. It is an easy walk that you can do even with children: the trail starts from Vens and, with a 200-meter elevation gain, leads to Lake Joux in about an hour.

You park your car in the parking lot in Vens and take trail No. 19, which climbs slightly to Lake Joux.
To the right of the lake you can see another road (closed to traffic) that is passable with a stroller. That road, which is longer, is the return of our hike to Lake Joux.
As soon as we reach the lake, we climb slightly to the right and take Trail No. 17 (Balteo Path), which always remains on the right side.
Trail No. 17 is very scenic and runs along woods and grasslands finally reaching a wide farmstead (200 meters ahead is the Letanaz Dessous mountain pasture).
Follow the farm road that rejoins the paved road and descend into the small village of Vens.
