If you plan to visit Perugia and if, like us, you are a fan of chocolate as well as sweets in general, you absolutely cannot miss a stay at the Chocohotel in Perugia!
Have you ever heard of it? The Chocohotel in Perugia is a themed hotel that offers large, bright rooms (family rooms with children or suites for couples), with a breakfast buffet, pool on the terrace and in-house restaurant.
As you might guess from the name, the undisputed protagonist is chocolate: from the furnishings of the rooms and the entire hotel, to the massages offered with chocolate oil, through the wonderful breakfast in the morning, everything points back to chocolate!
Sleeping at Perugia’s Chocohotel: the experience
At check-in, along with the keys, you are given a chocolate gift that already makes you foresee the delicacies that you will be able to taste during your stay!
The Choco hotel, in fact, has an in-house restaurant that, in addition to a la carte dishes, offers an entirely chocolate-based menu, and in the morning offers a breakfast that would make the best pastry shops envious!
If you are staying with children, you can request family rooms or adjoining rooms so that you have a little more space and privacy.
There is a kettle in the room with some herbal teas and a complete set for washing up.
As appropriately noted by my daughter, the headboard of the bed looks like a chocolate bar, and the whole decor resembles it.
But back to what ultimately arouses the most interest: breakfast!
Sleeping at Perugia’s Chocohotel: breakfast with the Island of Gluttony
Breakfast at Perugia’s Chocohotel is definitely the hotel’s highlight: chocolate fountains, brioche, cookies, cakes, macarons, are just a few examples of what you can find at the buffet tables. Plus, yogurt with lots of muesli, waffles and pancakes you can make on the spot, soft ice-cream (ice cream), and a gluten-free table.
To drink, a wide selection of juices and coffee/cappuccino to order from the waitress.
On the other hand, for those who want savory food, there is a small department with cold cuts, cheese, toast, bread, savory brioches, eggs etc.
It may be useful to know that breakfast can also be enjoyed by those not staying at the hotel: you can reserve your own table in the breakfast room at a cost of €15.00 per person.
Inside the hotel you can also find a Chocostore, or rather a store where you can buy bars or gadgets, again chocolate-based, to give to friends or to take home as a souvenir of the experience. As a customer of the hotel, you will be entitled to a 10 percent discount on the purchase of IChoc and Sweetness Builders products.

The hours of use are 9 a.m.-7:30 p.m., after which you can go dressed and the tables are used by the restaurant.
The swimming pool is in use only in the summer period, from June 1 to September 30, and has a height of 100 cm so it can also be used by children if they are not very small.
It may be important to know that the hotel does not provide a towel – but you can use one of the many towels in the room – and the use of a swimming cap is mandatory. If you do not have one, you can request it at the front desk at a cost of €3.00.
