With the aim of taking our daughters to the snow, without straying too far from Genoa, we took the opportunity to book a stay at the Miramonti, thus taking advantage of the services of a family hotel.
From the SPA, to the baby club service, to the half board treatment, in the article you will find our impressions and a detailed account of the services offered by the Miramonti Family Hotel, both for summer and winter.
N.B. The information you will find in this article about the Miramonti Family Hotel in Frabosa Soprana, is the result of our personal experience and does not originate from an affiliation programme with the hotel.
Hotel Miramonti Frabosa Soprana
Let’s start by saying that the Hotel Miramonti’s location is truly wonderful, with a spectacular terrace overlooking the valley.
Right here, you can have a chat and an aperitif both in fine weather and in the colder period, thanks to the braziers that give off a nice warmth.
From late afternoon, a deejay also livens up the evenings with music.
You can arrive by car near the entrance to unload your luggage, and then go down and park in the designated spaces below, or inside the garage.
A few steps – not very comfortable, actually, if you have a pushchair – and you enter the reception area.
The interior has not been recently renovated and the environment is, in my opinion, not very bright.
To get to your room, for example, you have to grope around for the light switch in the corridor.
Our room was equipped with a bottle warmer, a toilet reducer, a baby bath tub, a baby carrier, and a bin for dirty nappies.
Everything you need, then, for a family travelling with young children, which is basically what you look for in a family hotel.
A cot can be requested at an additional cost (€10.00).
Services for families with children
Let’s move on to the topic that perhaps interests families the most: what services the Miramonti Family Hotel offers families with children.
Inside the hotel, there is a games room with two Lego tables, one of which has a beautiful track, and a small pool filled with coloured balls, the most popular attraction.
In winter with the snow, it is the only playroom where children can have fun.
In summer, on the other hand, children can also have fun in the outdoor playground, which is certainly more fun.
From May to September, there is also the possibility of being in contact with farm animals (rabbits, chickens, goats and sheep).
Baby club service
As a family hotel, the Miramonti has a baby club service, which is included in the room rate, for children aged 4 and up to 12 years.
Therefore, if your child has reached the age of 4, he or she can be left alone with the animator during the opening hours of the baby club, which are 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. / 3.30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
In the evening, from 9 to 10:30 p.m., there is always a baby dance.
In Winter, the animators keep the children busy with various activities in an indoor hall or take them for a short walk.
InSummer, on the other hand, there are more activities that can be done outdoors, such as collecting eggs in the chicken coop and doing crafts in the vegetable garden.
At 17:30, a snack is always provided.
Mspa Wellness Centre
While the children play, adults can relax in Miramonti’s Mspa wellness centre with its saunas, steam baths, cervical water blades, and Kneipp path, or indulge in one of the massages on offer (relaxing, lymph-draining, decontracting…).
I tried the draining one and really enjoyed it.
The prices, in my opinion, are in line with facilities of this type (50-minute massage for 60.00€).
Meals at Miramonti: half board or full board
The basic stay at the Miramonti Family Hotel does not include meals.
For an additional charge, you can include breakfast only or lunch and dinner as well.
Half board includes buffet breakfast and dinner, while full board also includes lunch , which, in this case, is à la carte.
If you wish, there is the option of eating à la carte for dinner as well, but I recommend the buffet , which is really good quality.
At the buffet, we found awide choice of tasty and healthy dishes, also suitable for children, such as swordfish steak, chicken mugnaia, squid salad with peppers and orange segments, very fresh, cooked savoy cabbage with toasted almonds.
As first courses, lasagne, ricotta and spinach crepes, tortellini in broth.
Water is included in the meal.
At breakfast, also a buffet, we found a wide choice of pastries, cakes and freshly baked brioches, as well as cold meats, cheeses, scrambled eggs, for those who prefer savoury.
The only note is the cappuccino dispensed from the machine and not freshly prepared by the waiters.
Other hotel services: free shuttle to the lifts
The Miramonti Family Hotel offers a free shuttle service to the departure point of the Frabosa Soprana ski lifts.
When the Frabosa lifts are closed, the shuttle bus takes you to the lifts in Prato Nevoso or Artesina.
The Miramonti Family Hotel is located in the small village of Frabosa Soprana, at an altitude of 891 metres, situated between the Alps and the Langhe hills.
Frabosa Soprana is the oldest mountain village in the Mondolè Ski area, which is popular both as a ski resort and for summer trekking .
The village is small, with two parish churches and a couple of bars and restaurants.
About one kilometre away is Frabolandia, Frabosa Soprana’s children’s playground.
Surroundings of the Miramonti Family Hotel: Frabolandia
Frabolandia is an amusement park for children, open in both summer and winter.
In winter, a toboggan is provided and you can make endless descents on that or on a bike.
There is also a pulley, a wooden maze , and an archery station.
In summer, you can go downhill on rubber dinghies and there is a wooden marbles course.
Admission is charged for children only, and costs 15.00€ for the whole day or 8.00€ one hour and 5.00€ half an hour.
The price is really fair and being able to do even just half an hour or an hour is perfect for families who, like us, still have small children.
