Strolling through the centre of Asti, you will find several signs depicting a Christmas elf pointing you in the direction to reach the markets.

The more than 130 Christmas little houses are located on the square that houses the panoramic wheel and offer handicrafts and food and wine products from various regions of Italy.

The atmosphere is the classic festive Christmas one, thanks to the decorations, music, and the aromas of street food typical of this time of year, but also of Piedmontese cuisine.

Browsing among the stalls, you are sure to find original and, above all, handmade and truly quality gifts.

The Asti 2023 Christmas markets: where to eat

The stalls selling food can be found grouped in one place.

Savoury choices range from sandwiches with lampredotto, braised beef or pork sandwich, braised beef with mashed potatoes on a plate, meatballs, pizza, focaccia genovese and focaccia di recco, bretzel with speck and cheese, and much more.

As for desserts, you will find crepes, pancakes, sfogliatelle, strudel, hot chocolate.

All accompanied, of course, by mulled wine.

The food is good and of high quality and the price, in our opinion, is a little high. The sandwiches cost, on average, 10.00€ and the pot roast (small) 12.00€.

How to get to Asti and where to park

The nearest motorway exit to the Christmas markets is the Asti Est exit.

Afterwards, you must take the SR10 and drive 5 kilometres, arriving in about 10 minutes at the car park in Piazza Campo del Palio.

Part of the car park on Wednesdays and Saturdays is a market , but there is a lot of turnover and you will not struggle to find a space.

The rate is 0.80€ per hour.

A few steps on foot, and you will find yourself at the Christmas markets, arranged around the Ferris wheel, at the gateway to the historical centre of Asti.
